This 10-day safari takes you to Uganda’s most famous wildlife destinations. You will visit Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary for rhino trekking, Murchison Falls National Park for game drives, a boat cruise, and a view of the powerful falls, and Kibale National Park for chimpanzee tracking.
In Queen Elizabeth National Park, enjoy wildlife viewing in the Kasenyi Plains and a boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel. The safari ends with gorilla trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Along the way, you will experience different landscapes, cultural encounters, and a mix of savannah and rainforest adventures.
Detailed Safari Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival at Entebbe – Kampala City Tour
On arrival at Entebbe International Airport, your driver guide will pick you up and transfer you to Kampala for a short city tour. You will visit the Gaddafi National Mosque, local markets, religious sites, and restaurants to taste Ugandan food. Later, check in at your hotel for overnight stay.
Day 2: Kampala to Murchison Falls National Park via Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary
After breakfast, start the journey to Murchison Falls National Park in northwestern Uganda. The drive takes 5 to 7 hours with stops at roadside markets for fresh fruits and at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary for rhino trekking. Lunch will be served before continuing to the park. On arrival, check in at your safari lodge.
Day 3: Game Drive and Boat Cruise – Optional Visit to Top of the Falls
Start the day with a morning game drive to spot giraffes, elephants, buffalos, duikers, waterbucks, leopards, and more. You will also stop at the hippo pool for a fruit breakfast.
In the afternoon, take a boat cruise on the Nile. You may also choose to visit the top of the falls, where the Nile forces itself through a narrow gorge, creating a powerful roar. Return to the lodge in the evening for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 4: Drive to Kibale National Park – Crater Lakes Tour
After breakfast, check out and drive to Kibale National Park in western Uganda. Enjoy views of tea plantations, banana gardens, and villages along the way.
On arrival, have lunch and take a crater lakes walk to the “Top of the World,” guided by the Isunga Cultural Community. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 5: Chimpanzee Tracking – Leisure
After breakfast, go to Kanyanchu Visitor Center for a briefing. Rangers will explain the rules and assign guides. Trek through the forest to see chimpanzees and other primates such as baboons, red-tailed monkeys, vervet monkeys, and colobus monkeys.
Spend one hour with the chimpanzees before returning to your lodge for lunch and leisure.
Day 6: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park – Mahoma Falls (Optional)
After breakfast, transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park through the Ndali-Kasenda crater lakes. You may choose to stop at Mahoma Falls along the way.
Arrive in the afternoon and go for a game drive to spot elephants, buffalos, warthogs, bushbucks, leopards, and more. Check in at your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 7: Game Drive and Boat Trip
Take a morning game drive in Kasenyi Plains to see lions, leopards, hyenas, elephants, antelopes, hippos, and birds.
In the afternoon, take a boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel, which connects Lake Edward and Lake George. Look out for hippos, crocodiles, buffalos, elephants, and many birds including bee-eaters, pelicans, storks, and cormorants. Return to your lodge in the evening.
Day 8: Transfer to Bwindi via Ishasha
After breakfast, drive to Bwindi through the Ishasha sector, famous for tree-climbing lions. If lucky, you may see them resting in fig trees or watching for prey.
Continue to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, home to nearly half of the world’s mountain gorillas. Check in at your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 9: Gorilla Trekking – Batwa Community Visit
After breakfast, go to the park offices for a briefing on gorilla trekking rules. With guides and porters, head into the forest to search for gorillas. Trekking takes 3 to 6 hours, but you will spend one unforgettable hour with the gorillas once found.
After lunch, visit the Batwa community. Learn about their traditional life, music, dances, basket weaving, and fire-making. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 10: Return to Kampala – Departure
After an early breakfast, begin the drive back to Kampala. Stop at the equator for lunch, photos, and souvenirs. Continue to Entebbe International Airport for your departure flight.
