Ishasha Jungle Lodge is located in the Ishasha sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park, in Kihihi Sub-county along Kameme Road, near the edge of the park. The lodge is named after the Ishasha area, which is home to many animals such as elephants, buffaloes, and the rare tree-climbing lions.
Ishasha Jungle Lodge opened in 2014 to provide comfortable accommodation for tourists in the heart of the park. It is an eco-friendly lodge, built using local materials and decorated with African art.
The lodge has separate en suite cottages where guests stay. Each cottage is built on a raised wooden platform with a grass-thatched roof and is spaced out in the forest for privacy.
All cottages are furnished with modern features including one double bed for single rooms, or two single beds for twin rooms. They also have private bathrooms with hot and cold showers, mosquito nets, solar-powered electricity, clothes racks, flush toilets, and refillable dispensers for shampoo and shower gel.
Family cottages are also available. Each has two self-contained rooms and can host up to five guests.
The lodge has a restaurant built on raised platforms under native trees. It serves both international and Ugandan dishes, all prepared by experienced chefs using locally sourced ingredients. Guest health and satisfaction are a top priority.
There is an open veranda on the upper floor where guests can enjoy meals, drinks, or evening tea while watching nature. Inside the restaurant is a well-stocked bar with a range of drinks including wine, spirits, beer, juice, soda, and water.
The lodge also has a jungle craft shop where visitors can buy handmade crafts, artwork, food items, and books from the local area and across Uganda.
Ishasha Jungle Lodge is located along the Ntungwe River. Campfires and bush breakfasts are often arranged on the riverbanks to give guests a true taste of the wild.
