Mazike Valley Lodge - Stay Near Kyambura Gorge Uganda

Mazike Valley Lodge is located on the eastern side of Kyambura Gorge, also known as the Valley of Apes.

“Mazike” means “ape” in Luganda, which is where the lodge gets its name. The lodge was built in the style of the 1920s safari days, using local materials such as banana fibres for roofing, grass, stone, and wood. It overlooks the plains, Maramagambo Forest, and the Kazinga Channel.

The lodge has 8 spacious cottages that offer privacy, comfort, and a quiet environment. The cottages are set around a small swimming pool and the main guest area. They are designed with a back shelling that holds the piping frame leading to the bathroom and toilet. Accommodation includes double and twin rooms, with extra beds available on request. Room amenities include a built-in bathtub, showers, flush toilets, and wash basins with hot water.

The lodge has a large restaurant where guests can enjoy breakfast, lunch, and dinner prepared by skilled chefs. In the evening, guests can relax around the campfire, sip a drink, and watch local dancers perform.

There is also a lounge area, which is a great place to enjoy sunset views with a drink in hand. The lodge is accessible by both road and air from Kampala. Driving takes about 5 to 6 hours, while a flight from Entebbe to Kasese Airstrip takes about 45 minutes, followed by a short drive to the lodge.

While staying at Mazike Valley Lodge, guests can explore Queen Elizabeth National Park through activities such as game drives to see lions, leopards, buffaloes, elephants, and more. Chimpanzee trekking in Kyambura Gorge is another highlight, giving visitors the chance to meet these fascinating animals that share 98% of their DNA with humans.

Mazike Valley Lodge offers both comfort and adventure, making it a great choice for all travelers.
