Located in the southern part of Queen Elizabeth National Park, Ishasha Wilderness Camp is a luxury accommodation set along the Ntungwe River in the Ishasha Sector, an area famous for its tree-climbing lions.
The camp can be reached by air with a one-hour flight from Entebbe International Airport to Kasese Airstrip. From there, guests are transferred through the park to the camp, which takes about two and a half hours.
The camp has over 10 spacious and comfortable tents with large beds, white bed sheets, mosquito nets, and en suite bathrooms located at the back of the tents. The bathrooms use a bucket system for showers, with running water at the sinks. Each tent is private and has a veranda with outdoor chairs where guests can relax, watch wildlife, or enjoy the night sky.
The main lodge area blends naturally with its surroundings. It has a grass-thatched roof for shade, a fully stocked bar with both soft and alcoholic drinks, and a dining area by the riverbank with views of the river and its wildlife.
Meals are prepared by professional chefs and served by friendly staff. Full board includes breakfast, lunch, and dinner, while half board includes breakfast and dinner.
Dinner is often served by the river in a communal setting. Guests can also enjoy bush breakfasts at sunrise and evening sundowners after a day of activities. Other amenities include Wi-Fi, laundry, and housekeeping services.
A major highlight of Ishasha Wilderness Camp is the chance to see the famous tree-climbing lions resting in fig trees. Guests can also visit the Kasenyi Plains for game drives to see zebras, buffaloes, impalas, and other animals.
A boat safari on the Kazinga Channel offers views of hippos, crocodiles, and waterbirds. Other activities include chimpanzee trekking in Kyambura Gorge, where visitors can also see black-and-white colobus monkeys, baboons, and red-tailed monkeys.
Ishasha Wilderness Camp’s location inside the park makes it ideal for close and frequent wildlife sightings.
