Camping in Queen Elizabeth National Park lets you experience the secrets of the wild. Often, you will hear the sounds of nature at night, like crickets or animal calls.
There is no need to be afraid, as tour guides are always nearby to explain what is happening. If an animal comes close, just stay calm and wait for instructions from your guide. These animals are usually just curious about the fire or lights around your camp.
Most camping sites in Queen Elizabeth National Park offer different types of accommodation, including self-contained and non-self-contained tents. The camps usually have shared toilet facilities.
Some sites have permanent tents with canvas walls and thatched roofs to protect guests from rain or sunshine. These give you a peaceful experience as you enjoy views of the wild.
One popular campsite is Ishasha Wilderness Camp, located in the southwest part of the park. It has 10 private canvas tents built in Meru style, known for comfort and design.
These tents face the Ntungwe River, giving guests a chance to see hippos and elephants from their verandas. Each tent has its own bathroom, eco-friendly toilet, and solar-powered electricity. The camp also has a bar, dining area, quiet reading space, and other facilities.
Another site is the Bush Camp, found in western Uganda along the Kasese-Mbarara road. This is a good place to stay if you plan to visit Kazinga Channel. The camp has 12 bandas, giving guests a choice between self-contained and non-self-contained tents.
Two of these are ideal for families. This site is safer for tourists with a car, and moving around at night is not advised. The camp has 10 non-self-contained tents, each with a double bed, bedside table, power outlet, and shared toilets.
Kasenyi Safari Camp is another good option. It has king-sized beds, ensuite bathrooms, and large living spaces in each of the eight tents. These tents are built on raised platforms and covered with thatched roofs for better protection. This camp is located near Lake Bunyampaka in the Kasenyi Savannah, one of the most beautiful areas in Queen Elizabeth National Park.
Other campsites include Engiri Game Lodge and Campsite and several others around the park.
Camping in Queen Elizabeth National Park is one of the best ways to connect with nature and enjoy the true African safari experience.
